Thermochromic pigment
Scope of application
Description:
Thermochromic pigment (thermochrome) is a pigment dye that changes color with a change in temperature.
The temperature range at which the thermochromic pigment changes color is -15ºС - 70ºС. Particle size 5-10 microns.
There are many colors of thermochrome and temperature conditions at which thermochrome changes color. By combining different thermochromic pigments, the color of the mixture can change several times at different temperatures, creating the color effect of a thermometer.
Thermochromic pigment withstands temperatures up to 240º C. It has good solvent resistance.
Thermochromes are safe and comply with the requirements and standards set for the production of children's toys and food packaging.
Mixing proportions: from 5-30% of paint is added to water-based and oil-based bases depending on the desired effect, to plastics during injection molding from 0.5-5%. As there are many application methods, there are also many requirements for the final effect, so the final manufacturer must independently conduct tests in his production before starting mass production.
Thermochromic inks have poor UV tolerance without a top coat with an appropriate UV inhibitor varnish. Also, for outdoor work, it is necessary to use a UV-protective varnish. This will increase the life of the paint.
